The Lexus IS F Base for 2009: Improving on 2008

A lot has been said about the Lexus IS F for 2009. As Lexus's entry in the sedan market the IS F (and in this case specically the Base version) has maintained a good reputation. The 4-door IS F is especially appealing to wide market segment, making it a perfect car to help Lexus as a brand in general.

Lexus IS F Engine Specs

The IS F Base is equipped with a Toyota 5.0 liter eight-cylinder engine that utilizes 32 valves. The engine is mated to a Toyota 8-speed Transmission. This is a long-standing favorite for buyers in the Sedan arena.

The fuel system for the 2009 IS F is a traditional SFI D-4, running on gasoline fuel. The fuel is controlled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The capacity of the fuel tank is 19.20 gallons.

Steering control is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The IS F has power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. The car uses coil front springs and coil in the rear.

The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $37,500 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of $33,188. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 4-door Sedan.

The standard warranty period for the IS F is 48 months, or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first. This is standard in the sedan market.

Fuel Efficiency

The 2009 IS F gets 23 miles/gallon on the highway and only 18 in the city. This is exceptional for a sedan car.

Conclusion

The 2008 model began the promise of the Lexus IS F. The 2009 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers Lexus hopes that the IS F Base will continue to be a profitable vehicle.
