The 2004 S2000 is an important vehicle to Honda for the convertible market segment. The Base is a member of a series of one trim levels for the S2000 which include Base. The two-door car with its rear-wheel drive is positioned to aggressively fill this niche for Honda. There is strong competition from vehicles from Honda.

Honda S2000 Engine Specs

The restyled S2000 Base is equipped with a 2.2-liter four-cylinder engine that utilizes 16 valves. The VTEC engine is mated to a Honda six-speed transmission. This has resulted in an increase in horsepower and torque over the 2003 version.

The 2004 S2000's exceptional fuel system runs on gas. The fuel is regulated electronically, with a fuel-injected multi-port fuel injection style of design. The fuel capacity of the car is 13.20 gallons.

The S2000 uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The car uses coil and coil springs front and rear respectively.

The dimensions of the S2000 Base are 68.90 inches wide by 162.20 inches long. It sits 50.00 inches off the ground. It seats a standard two passengers, with 2 doors. The wheelbase of 94.50 allows for extra leg room for the rear passengers.

The listed retail price in 2004 (MSRP) was $32,800, with a dealer invoice cost of $29,505. This price is on target the industry average price for a two-door Convertible.

The standard warranty period for the S2000 is 36 months, or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. There is also a warranty on the powertrain for 36 months or 36,000 miles respectively. This is standard in the convertible market.

Fuel Efficiency

The S2000 Base received a miles-per-gallon rating of twenty in-city driving and twenty five when it came to highway driving. Being a gas-powered non-hybrid car, this was exceptional.

The 2003 model began the promise of the Honda S2000. The 2004 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers Honda hopes that the S2000 Base will continue to be a profitable vehicle.
