Standard equipment in the S2000 for 2004 and 2005 includes the 2.2 liter engine by Honda, weighing in at 4 cylinders and sixteen valves. A 6-speed Standard Transmission puts the power of the VTEC engine to the pavement. The has proven to be a popular configuration for the S2000.

The S2000 uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The car uses coil and coil springs front and rear respectively.

The dimensions of the S2000 Base are 68.90 inches wide by 162.20 inches long. It sits 50.00 inches off the ground. It seats a standard two passengers, with 2 doors. The wheelbase of 94.50 allows for extra leg room for the rear passengers.

The standard warranty period for the S2000 is 36 months, or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. This is standard in the convertible market.

The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $33,150 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of $29,820. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 2-door Convertible.

Fuel Efficiency

The fuel system for the 2005 S2000 is a PGM-FI system, running on gasoline . The fuel is regulated by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design.

The 2005 S2000 gets 25 miles/gallon on the highway and only 20 in the city. This is below average for a convertible car.
