Infiniti G20

A lot has been said about the Infiniti G20 for 2001. As Infiniti's entry in the sedan market the G20 (and in this case specically the Base version) has maintained a solid reputation. The 4-door G20 is especially appealing to wide market segment, making it a perfect car to help Infiniti as a brand in general.

Performance

The G20 Base is equipped with a Nissan 2.0 liter four-cylinder engine that utilizes 16 valves. The engine is mated to a Jatco 4-speed Transaxle. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Infiniti.

The G20 uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The car uses coil and coil springs front and rear respectively.

The 2001 G20's traditional fuel system runs on gas. The fuel is regulated electronically, with a fuel-injected multi-port fuel injection (MFI) style of design. The fuel tank holds 15.90 gallons.

G20 Base Statistics

The dimensions of the G20 Base are 66.70 inches wide by 177.50 inches long. It sits a comfortable 55.10 inches off the ground. It seats a standard five passengers, with 4 doors. The wheelbase of 102.40 allows for limited leg room for the backseat passengers.

The standard warranty period for the G20 is 48 months, or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first. The warranty also includes a warranty on the drivetrain for 72 months or 70,000 miles respectively. This is standard in the sedan market. Extended warranties are also available through the dealer.

The listed retail price in 2001 (MSRP) was $21,395, with an invoice cost of $19,522. This price is above average of the industry average price for a four-door Sedan.

Fuel Efficiency

The 2001 G20 gets 30 - 31 miles/gallon on the highway and only 23 - 24 in the city. This is exceptional for a sedan car.

In 2000 and 2001 the G20 Base was availble in the exterior colors of Aspen White Pearl, Autumn Bronze Pearl, Black Obsidian, Midnight Blue Pearl, Millennium Jade Metallic, Sandrock Beige Metallic, and Titanium Metallic. Additional options were made available by the factory.

Conclusion

There are several reasons why the Infiniti G20 Base sold well in 2001. Mainly the increase in availability and a marked improvement in quality meant the buying public was more apt to choose a Infiniti, specifically a G20.
