Our Review of the 1995 Toyota Supra Base

A high point in the hatchback market is the Toyota Supra. In 1995 Toyota rolled out an upgraded version of the Supra with two versions: Twin Turbo and Base. Sales for the Supra, especially the Supra Base, were brisk during 1995 and 1996. The improved reliability and the sporty styling were responsible for the increased interest.

1995 Toyota Supra Base Specs

The Supra Base is equipped with a Toyota 3.0 liter six-cylinder engine that utilizes 24 valves. The engine is mated to a Toyota 4-speed Transmission. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Toyota.

The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The Supra uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. Load balancing is provided by coil front springs and coil in the rear.

The fuel system for the 1995 Supra is a MPI system, running on gasoline . The fuel is controlled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design.

The Supra is 177.80 inches long, 71.30 inches wide, and 49.80 inches high. It has a wheelbase of 100.40 inches. It is able to seat 4 comfortably.

The standard warranty period for the Supra is 60* months, or 50,000* miles, whichever comes first. This is standard in the hatchback market.

The listed retail price in 1995 (MSRP) was $38,700, with a dealer invoice cost of an industry-low price. This price is on target the industry average price for a two-door Hatchback.

MPG Ratings

The 1995 Supra gets 23 - 24 miles/gallon on the highway and only 18 in the city. This is subpar for a hatchback car.

In 1994 and 1995 the Supra Base was availble in the exterior colors of several colors. Additional options were available as special orders from the factory.

What We Think of the Toyota Supra

The 1995 model year was very successful for the Toyota Supra. The introduction of several trim levels (along with the Base version) meant that buyers could find the version that best suited their needs.
