The Nissan 300ZX 2+2 for 1996

One of the staples of the Coupe segment is the Nissan 300ZX. In the previous model year debuted a brand new version of the 300ZX with three versions: 2+2, Base, and Turbo. Sales for the 300ZX, especially the 300ZX 2+2, were brisk during 1996 and 1997. The improved vehicle quality and the modern styling were responsible for the boost in sales.

Performance

The 300ZX 2+2 is equipped with a Nissan 3.0 liter six-cylinder engine that utilizes 24 valves. The engine is mated to a Nissan 5-speed Transmission. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Nissan.

Fuel is handled for the 300ZX is a SFI design, running on gasoline fuel. The gasoline is handled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The capacity of the fuel tank is 19.00 gallons.

The 300ZX uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The car uses coil and coil springs front and rear respectively.

The dimensions of the 300ZX 2+2 are 70.50 inches wide by 169.50 inches long. It sits a comfortable 48.30 inches off the ground. It seats a standard two passengers, with 2 doors. The wheelbase of 96.50 allows for limited leg room for the backseat passengers.

The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $37,439 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of an industry-low price. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 2-door Coupe.

The standard warranty period for the 300ZX is 60* months, or 50,000* miles, whichever comes first. The warranty also includes a warranty on the drivetrain for 36* months or 50,000* miles respectively. This is standard in the coupe market. Extended warranties are also available through the dealer.

Fuel Efficiency

The 1996 300ZX gets 24 miles/gallon on the highway and only 19 in the city. This is average for a coupe car.

The 1995 model began the promise of the Nissan 300ZX. The 1996 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers Nissan hopes that the 300ZX 2+2 will continue to be a profitable vehicle.

    Good article. At first I felt like I needed to refute your review of the Nissan 300ZX, but after further reflection I can see your point of view. Perhaps my personal 300ZX 2+2 is an abberation. What is everyone else’s experiences?
