Toyota MR2 Spyder Engine Specs: The MR2 Spyder Base comes outfitted with a 1.8 liter, 4-cylinder motor that uses 16 valves. The engine, manufactured by Toyota, is mated to a five-speed transaxle by Toyota. This arrangement has demonstrated to be an effective style for Toyota.

The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The MR2 Spyder uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. Load balancing is provided by coil front springs and coil in the rear.

The MR2 Spyder Base received a miles-per-gallon rating of twenty five in-city driving and thirty when it came to highway driving. Being a gas-powered non-hybrid car, this was exceptional.

In 1999 and 2000 the MR2 Spyder Base was availble in the exterior colors of Absolutely Red, Black, Liquid Silver Metallic, Solar Yellow, Spectra Blue Metallic, and Super White.

The 1999 model began the promise of the Toyota MR2 Spyder. The 2000 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers Toyota hopes that the MR2 Spyder Base will continue to be a profitable vehicle.
