The 2006 RX-8 is an important vehicle to Mazda for the coupe market segment. The Base is a member of a series of one trim levels for the RX-8 which include Base. Performance

The RX-8 Base is equipped with a Mazda 1.3 liter two-cylinder engine that utilizes 12 valves. The engine is mated to a N/A 6-speed Transmission. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Mazda.

The fuel system for the 2006 RX-8 is a MPI design, running on gasoline fuel. The fuel flow is regulated by a electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The storage capacity of the fuel tank is 15.90 gallons.

The RX-8 is 174.30 inches long, 69.70 inches wide, and 52.80 inches high. It has a wheelbase of 106.40 inches. It is able to seat 4 comfortably.

The standard warranty period for the RX-8 is 48 months, or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first. The warranty also includes a warranty on the drivetrain for 48 months or 50,000 miles respectively. This is standard in the coupe market. Extended warranties are also available through the dealer.

The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $26,435 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of $24,458. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 4-door Coupe.

Fuel Efficiency

The RX-8 Base received a miles-per-gallon rating of eighteen in-city driving and twenty four when it came to long-distance. Being a gas-powered non-green car, this was subpar.

In 2005 and 2006 the RX-8 Base was availble in the exterior colors of Brilliant Black, Copper Red, Galaxy Gray, Phantom Blue, Snow Flake White Pearl, Sunlight Silver Metallic, Velocity Red Mica, and Winning Blue Metallic. Additional options were made available by the factory.

Conclusion

There are several reasons why the Mazda RX-8 Base sold well in 2006. Mainly the increase in availability and a marked improvement in quality meant the buying public was more apt to choose a Mazda, specifically a RX-8.
