There have been several award-winning cars from Lexus over the years, including the Lexus IS350 of 2006. There are one trim levels to the IS350, including Base. The Base version is one of the more popular options, outselling other configurations. Like in 2005 the popular 3.5 liter has made this a popular choice for sedan buyers across the country.

Lexus IS350 Engine Specs

The restyled IS350 Base is equipped with a 3.5-liter six-cylinder engine that utilizes 24 valves. The engine is mated to a Toyota six-speed transmission. This has resulted in an increase in horsepower and torque over the 2005 version.

The 2006 IS350's exceptional fuel system runs on gas. The fuel is regulated electronically, with a fuel-injected multi-port fuel injection style of design. The fuel capacity of the car is 18.50 gallons.

The IS350 uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The car uses coil and coil springs front and rear respectively.

The dimensions of the IS350 Base are 71.30 inches wide by 191.10 inches long. It sits 57.30 inches off the ground. It seats a standard five passengers, with 4 doors. The wheelbase of 107.10 allows for extra leg room for the rear passengers.

The listed retail price in 2006 (MSRP) was $32,300, with a dealer invoice cost of $28,640. This price is on target the industry average price for a four-door Sedan.

The standard warranty period for the IS350 is 48 months, or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first. This is standard in the sedan market.

Fuel Efficiency

The IS350 Base received a miles-per-gallon rating of twenty one in-city driving and twenty nine when it came to highway driving. Being a gas-powered non-hybrid car, this was exceptional.

The 2006 model year was telling year for the Lexus IS350. The introduction of several trim levels (along with the Base version) meant that buyers could find the version that best suited their needs.

    I’m liking Hyundai over Lexus. It think it’s the difference in reliability. My first IS350 worked quite well, but the second one (a Base BTW) didn’t fare so well…
