Mazda has been blessed with many award-winning designs, including the Mazda RX-8 of 2005. There are two trim levels to the RX-8, including Shinka and Base. The Shinka version is one of the more popular options. Like in 2004 the popular 1.3 liter has made this a popular choice for coupe buyers across the country.

The 350Z Touring is equipped with a Nissan 3.5 liter six-cylinder engine that utilizes 24 valves. The engine is mated to a Nissan 6-speed Transmission. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Nissan.

The 2009 Lexus IS350 Base was introduced to compete in the sedan market. The Base is a member of a series of one trim levels for the IS350 which include Base. The four-door car with its rear-wheel drive is positioned to aggressively fill this niche for Lexus. There is strong competition from vehicles from Infiniti.

In 2009 Mazda released the RX-8 Grand Touring to the car-buying market. The RX-8 came in four configurations: Touring, Grand Touring, Sport, and R3. The Grand Touring configuration is powered by the 1.3-liter two-cylinder engine, which makes 23 highway miles and 17 city. The RX-8 competes in the Coupe market segment, in direct competition with Hyundai.
