In 2008 Infiniti released the G37 Sport to the car-buying market. The G37 came in three configurations: Base, Journey, and Sport. The Sport configuration is powered by the 3.7-liter six-cylinder engine, which makes 23 highway miles and 17 city. The G37 competes in the Coupe market segment, in direct competition with Infiniti.

One of the staples of the Sedan segment is the Infiniti G35. In the previous model year released a brand new version of the G35 with four versions: Base, X, Journey, Sport, and X Sport. Sales for the G35, especially the G35 Sport, were brisk during 2008 and 2009. The improved vehicle quality and the classic styling were responsible for the sales boost.
