One of the staples of the Coupe segment is the Nissan 350Z. In the previous model year released a brand new version of the 350Z with five versions: Nismo, Touring, Grand Touring, Enthusiast, and Base. Sales for the 350Z, especially the 350Z Nismo, were brisk during 2008 and 2009. The improved vehicle quality and the classic styling were responsible for the sales boost.

The two-door car with its rear-wheel drive is positioned to aggressively fill this niche for Nissan. There is strong competition from vehicles from Infiniti.
